ألف مرحبا يا أولاد وبنات
كم غريب الإنتظار للربيع دون الذهاب إلى المدرسة! أرى من مقعدي هنا أنّ الأشجار بدأت تزدهر والأعشاب تخضرّ والسناجب والطيور تكثر حولي...لكن أين وجوه طلابي اللامعة؟ أين المشاوير المشمسة في وقت الصف؟ آه يا له من عزل غريب!
A thousand helloes, boys and girls,
How strange it is to wait for spring without going to school! I see from my seat here that the trees have begun to flower, the grasses to green, and the squirrels and birds to increase around me...but where are the bright faces of my students? Where are the sunny walks during class time? Ah, what strange isolation!
